When this movie was made in 1914...
...the "Old West" wasn't an ancient phenomenon, but a recent one.
The authenticity of this depiction is stunning.
Most of the props, costumes, and other paraphenalia are probably genuine.
As are, in many cases, the people themselves.
This lengthy, unbroken camera pan is a fascinating look at what a large, bustling saloon and its customers must've looked like.
And it's a great example of ancient filmmaking, when the medium was still being invented.
