Arrow Video Invites Audiences to Meet (and Kill) the Parents
Brutal Action Comedy Opens April 10th in Select Markets

"A splatterpunk action comedy... gleefully dark" --Hollywood Reporter

"A smartly constructed and blisteringly paced bit of chaos" --Screen Anarchy

London, UK - Arrow Video is proud to announce the US theatrical release of Why Don't You Just Die!, a blood-soaked black comedy in the vein of Quentin Tarantino and Edgar Wright.

Making his feature debut, writer/director Kirill Sokolov presents a rousing tale of family, modern relationships and the dark places they can take you to when things turn sour.  Why Don't You Just Die! will open in select theaters nationwide on April 10th, 2020.

Why Don't You Just Die! has received critical acclaim from festivals around the globe, taking home the New Flesh Award for Best First Feature and Silver Audience Award at Fantasia, Best European Feature Film at MOTELx, Best Director at Fantaspoa, Best Feature, Best Director and Best VFX Awards at Grimmfest.  Following a screening at Fantastic Fest, Film School Rejects raved that "Russian cinema has a new filmmaker to champion".

Theatrical markets include Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Knoxville, Ithaca, Houston, Lubbock, El Paso and Phoenix.

Ahead of the release, Sokolov shared, "Despite our exaggerated use of genre tropes and all the flashy effects, Why Don't You Just Die! remains, for me, an incredibly personal and sincere story. The film's inherent violence is the result of reflection on the realities of life in Russia, modern relationships, and societal attitudes. The gallows humor which pervades the film is the only true reaction whatsoever to all of this. The film is intended as an emotional rollercoaster, making the audience laugh, cry, and laugh again - but then immediately feel a sense of unease for having laughed."

Matvey (Aleksandr Kuznetsov) has just one objective: to gain entry to his girlfriend's parents' apartment and kill her father Andrey (Vitaliy Khaev) with a hammer to restore her honour. But all is not as it initially seems, and Matvey's attempts to bludgeon the family patriarch to death don't quite go to plan as Andrey proves a more formidable - not to mention ruthless - opponent than he anticipated... and Matvey, for his part, proves stubbornly unwilling to die.

TERROR FILMS Sets Release Date for 1980’s Throwback Slasher "THE TORMENT OF LAURIE ANN CULLOM" -- Watch Trailer HERE!

TERROR FILMS Sets Release Date for 1980’s Throwback Slasher

Los Angeles, CA (February 26th, 2020) – TERROR FILMS has set a release date for the long gestating 80’s horror film The Torment of Laurie Ann Cullom.

Inspired by actual events, director Mark Dossett’s critically acclaimed indie horror film is set to debut on digital platforms this March 2nd, 2020. The film, which first began its festival run in 2014, has been praised by horror critics.

Morbidly Beautiful stated, “The Torment of Laurie Ann Cullom is an extremely satisfying watch. It’s a well-made horror film with a well-placed nod to Halloween, a villain who resembles Kane Hodder and a great soundtrack and musical score that effectively represent the era.

There are creepy moments, scenes that are hard to watch and a well-paced build-up of events all surrounding a sympathetic lead character. That’s what makes this film such a great watch for horror fans.”

This sentiment was shared by fellow genre critics including by Horror Fuel who called the film - “one of the best slasher movies of the year” - and Horror Society who proclaimed the film was “a triumph for old school horror".

When asked why he waited so long to distribute his feature film debut, director Mark Dossett had this to say: “I had four previous distribution offers before signing with Terror Films. I had everything from one distributor telling me they didn't like the name of the film and they would figure it out once I signed. Another one quoted me on the phone their recoupable expense amount and then when the contract was sent, it was double that amount. So, at the end of the day, it all came down to trust. I didn't trust any of them. After talking with Joe, I realized he and his staff were also indie filmmakers and that we would work together on everything from the poster to the trailer. That gave me the trust that I didn't have with the others to go ahead and sign with Terror Films.”

The release will span over several months as it becomes available across digital platforms. Digital platforms hosting the film include: Prime Video, Tubi TV, Google Play and many others. In advance of the release, TERROR FILMS is debuting the newly revised trailer and poster here.

Happy Leap Year From Chandler Bing -- #OwnFriendsTV

Did you know that this Saturday - February 29 - is Leap Day?

It’s a date that only comes around every 4 years to help synchronize the calendar year with the length of time it takes the Earth to complete its orbit around the sun - which is 365.25 days! It’s an extra 24 hours to do whatever you want, without feeling guilty that you don’t have the time.

In the word’s of Chandler Bing – “Can I BE anymore excited?!”

Some fun facts about Leap Year:

Leap Year was first introduced by Julius Caesar in 45 BC.
The odds of being born on Leap Day are about 1 in 1500.
There are about 187,000 people in the US, and 4 million people worldwide who were born on Leap Day.
Leap year babies get their driver's licenses when they are officially four years old (or 16 calendar years)!
How do you know if it’s going to be a Leap Year? Most years that can be divided evenly by 4 are Leap Years, with the exception on Century Years. Century Years are not Leap Years unless they can be evenly divided by 400.

So what are you going to do with your extra day this year? On behalf of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and the Digital, Blu-ray & DVD releases of Friends – we wanted to wish you and your family a Happy Leap Year. All the Killer Shrews Scenes In "THE KILLER SHREWS" (1959) (video)

Director Ray Kellogg would co-direct "The Green Berets" with John Wayne.

James Best would find TV fame in "The Dukes Of Hazzard."
Ingrid Goude was Miss Sweden of 1956.
Baruch Lamet was the father of director Sidney Lumet.

The "killer shrews" were actually dogs wearing long hair and fangs.

NIGHT OF OPEN SEX -- Blu-ray Review by Porfle

From the title and cover art, I thought NIGHT OF OPEN SEX (Severin Films, 1983) was going to be one of Jess Franco's more experimental and largely plotless indulgences.

But sure enough, there is a plot, and a pretty passable one at that, although it has its work cut out for it competing against Franco's endless cinematic explorations of his beloved Lina Romay's bouncy naked body.

We first meet Lina (HOT NIGHTS OF LINDA, SINFONIA EROTICA, TWO FEMALE SPIES WITH FLOWERED PANTIES) as Moira, a popular local harlot who draws big, enthusiastic nightclub crowds just by writhing around onstage in various states of undress while wantonly pleasuring herself.

Naturally, she's the perfect choice for sleazo conman Vic (Miguel Aristu) to recruit in his plan to trick a dying Nazi general (Albino Graziani, MANSION OF THE LIVING DEAD) out of a hidden cache of gold by having her pose as his niece.

But first Vic and Moira must kidnap the real niece, Tina Klaus (Carla Simons), and get her to divulge the general's whereabouts in one of those scenes where Franco flirts with torture porn.

It's also a flirtation with real porn in that it contains some vaginal penetration, albeit with a hot curling iron as Moira proves she's as cruel as she is beautiful.

This early scene is brutal and rather shocking, especially since Moira is a character we're meant to like as we follow her sexual and materialistic exploits, some of which are in a humorous vein, for the remainder of the story.

The rest of the film is a series of near-hardcore sex scenes focusing on Moira flailing ecstatically with various partners including her blonde girlfriend Eva (Lorna Green, MACUMBA SEXUAL) and a moustachioed stud named Al Crosby (J.A. Mayans, CANNIBAL TERROR), who first abducts Moira and then teams up with her to search for the gold while finding time to engage in endless frantic couplings.

The aforementioned plot keeps chugging away during lulls in the sexual action and actually becomes somewhat intriguing as Moira and Al work to decipher the Nazi general's cryptic clues and make their way through lush seaside scenery where a hidden mansion awaits.

Adding to the suspense is another male-female duo on the gold hunt, and their sudden appearance during Moira and Al's climactic sexual frenzy, which is stoked to new heights by the sight of a big stack of shiny gold bars, augments the film's twisty and rather amusing finale.

Franco (COUNT DRACULA, VAMPYROS LESBOS, SHE KILLED IN ECSTASY), who makes a brief cameo appearance while tied up and gagged, is in relatively good technical form here with some steady camerawork and ideal locations.

My favorite part is the opening, a gorgeous extended shot through the windshield of a car cruising down an oceanfront boulevard lined with lightposts beneath a dark, cloudy sunset. The entire film looks good considering the low budget and Franco's tendency to work fast and loose.

NIGHT OF OPEN SEX is neither the director's worst (so far I would nominate PAULA-PAULA) nor the best of the comparatively small number of his scores of films that I've seen. Non-Franco fans will likely find it lightweight and slow, even boring. Lina Romay fans will get a severe case of eyestrain. I found it interesting (Franco is always interesting) and fun.

THE ASTROLOGER -- Blu-ray Review by Porfle

Although writer-director James Glickenhaus may be known for lively cult action flicks like THE EXTERMINATOR, he cut his filmmaking teeth on a talky but intriguing low-budget thriller called THE ASTROLOGER, aka "Suicide Cult" (1975), which he now refers to as his "student film."

Based on a novel by his father-in-law John Cameron, it's the story of a brilliant government agent named Alexei (Bob Byrd in his only film) who applies modern scientific techniques to the ancient art of astrology and, with the help of advanced (for the time) computers, can predict the course of an influential person's life in order to alter their future and create new outcomes.

This comes in handy when Alexei and his "zodiacal" associates somehow--don't ask me how, but somehow--figure out that we're due for another virgin birth like the one 2,000 years ago, only this time the result may be a messiah of evil. (Sort of a "Rosemary's Baby" type of deal.)

Glickenhaus cuts back and forth between Alexei and a sinister cult leader named Kajerste (producer Mark Buntzman) who lords it over a gypsy blood cult that may be directly involved in the rise of such a horrible creature.

To this end, Kajerste has taken an interest in Alexei's own wife Kate (Monica Tidwell), a virgin who shares the exact same astrological template as the Virgin Mary herself.

As the director now freely admits, all of this is presented via long dialogue passages, during which Byrd's ability to reel off whole paragraphs of intricate exposition in a semi-naturalistic manner is impressive.

Even former Playboy playmate Tidwell, whose acting abilities are limited to say the least, manages some pretty unwieldy dialogue (in her distinctive Louisiana accent) when Kate finally divulges the secret of her past to an astonished Alexei.

Breaking up the film's many talk-fest scenes are snippets of Kajerste's followers engaged in their infernal ceremonies, intercut rather tastelessly with newsreel footage of what appear to be actual mutilated bodies. (This footage is jarring, to say the least.)

Somewhat resembling one of Bruno Mattei's jungle flicks, these scenes allow Glickenhaus to stretch his creative skills visually while amping up the suspense level when, at about the halfway mark, one of Alexei's female agents is caught trying to sneak into Kajerste's camp on what she thought was a secret mission.

What happens next shocks the film out of its lethargy and sets us up for a much more involving second half seasoned with the requisite amounts of nudity and violence.  Yet just as the story still seems to be building, the film ends abruptly on a unresolved note that may leave some viewers hanging.

Despite its shortcomings, THE ASTROLOGER is a fascinating look at a novice director's determined effort to create a sophisticated sci-fi/horror tale laced with both intriguing ideas and visceral shocks. For many fans of genre filmmaking on a shoestring budget, the attempt itself should provide engaging entertainment.

One thing we know for sure from the "Star Wars" films... that Darth Vader's favorite word is "complete."
He REALLY likes for things to be complete.

"The Death Star will completed on schedule, my master."
"You have only begun to discover your power. Join me and I will complete your training."
"The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master."
"I see you have constructed a new lightsaber. Your skills are complete."
"Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete."

Of course, Vader may have picked this up from his master, Emperor Palpatine...

Emperor Palpatine: "Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!"

CRIES OF PLEASURE -- Blu-ray Review by Porfle

I guess I've seen about a dozen or so of the many films directed by Jesus "Jess" Franco (VAMPYROS LESBOS, SHE KILLED IN ECSTASY, COUNT DRACULA)  during his prolific career. And while nowhere near the expert many of his fans are, I can say that one never knows quite what to expect from him.

It all depends on Franco's budget, collaborators, various other factors, and, most of all, whatever mood he happened to be in when undertaking a particular project.

With CRIES OF PLEASURE (1983), Franco must have felt like skirting the boundary between two familiar themes: the twisty intrigue tale with elements of murder and betrayal, and the softcore sex romp in which he could indulge his penchant for long, meandering passages with naked people exploring each other's...well, long meandering passages.

It begins a bit like SUNSET BOULEVARD, with one of the main characters already floating dead in a swimming pool. The narrator, ironically, is a simple-minded mute named Fenul (Juan Cózar) whose only job is to wander around the mountaintop Spanish villa strumming on the guitar to provide background music for his master, Antonio (Robert Foster).

Antonio, a wealthy, arrogant young playboy, has a live-in lover and maid named Marta (Jasmina Bell) who later claims to have been raped by him at age 12 but remains desperately in love with him and serves as a sex slave.

Meanwhile, his beautiful houseguest Julia (Franco's longtime muse Lina Romay, THE HOT NIGHTS OF LINDA, SINFONIA EROTICA, TWO FEMALE SPIES WITH FLOWERED PANTIES) is about to meet his equally lovely wife Martina (Rocío Freixas, THE SINISTER EYES OF DR. ORLOFF), who that very day is being released from an insane asylum.

That's just about all the set-up the director needs to get cracking on yet another torrid tale of lurid lust and maniacal madness, all of which will commence right after the characters are all properly introduced and thrown into a succession of those long, meandering passages.

These are all shot in very extended takes as the camera lingers artlessly but intently over various combinations of nude, writhing bodies while occasionally wandering out the window to take in some of the Spanish oceanfront scenery.

The sex itself is technically softcore but sometimes threatens to cross the boundary into hardcore. As with many sequences of this kind, things tend to get monotonous (I've personally gotten to the point where I find just about all sex scenes boring), although Lina Romay's many fans will certainly have a visual field day here.

What makes CRIES OF PLEASURE more than just another sexploitation flick, however, is the queasy undercurrent of sadism, perversion, and ultimately murder that pervades it all.

At least one participant in all this carnal decadence will be tortured to death, and somebody plans to murder someone else before it's all over.

While the extended sex scenes are furiously performed and at least marginally erotic, the most worthwhile thing about it all (for me, anyway) is how Franco's barebones plot, based on the writings of the Marquis de Sade, is revealed to us in broad, deliberate strokes that keep us attentively waiting for its resolution.

When CRIES OF PLEASURE does hit that final chord, it's just kinky and off-kilter enough to elicit a sigh of satisfaction that we've made it through yet another unpredictable Jess Franco fever dream with the feeling that, somehow, it has been time rather well spent.

The deal also sees the parties establish an alliance that will specifically address the US TV market with high-end premium TV series tackling themes of contemporary global relevance, developed out of Ink’s LA base. As part of the deal, Endeavor Content will have a formal first-look agreement covering both film and TV to sell forthcoming Ink Factory projects internationally.

The partnership marks a step up in the long-running relationship between the two companies, cemented by Endeavor Content’s investment of both equity and development funding into Ink across US and international projects. Family Film "ADVENTURE BOYZ" Encourages Kids To Get Off Their Devices -- See Trailer HERE!

FEBRUARY 21, 2020

Watch Adventure Boyz, Then Get Off Your Devices and Get Out There!

Los Angeles, CA (FEBRUARY 18, 2020) – The director of global horror-hit ‘The Dead’ and the award-winning, critically acclaimed thriller ‘Never Let Go’, Howard J Ford has taken a spectacular twist in career path to bring his first family film the screen with Adventure Boyz, which will be released by Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios Company, on DigitalHD, Cable VOD, Blu-ray and DVD on February 21 throughout North America.

Inspired by what Howard considers to be the ‘Global Disaster’ of children focusing on device screens rather than engaging in real-life adventures, Adventure Boyz takes audiences on an unforgettable journey with thrills, spills and laughs-a-plenty.

In Adventure Boyz, with his wife away from the family home, ex-motorcycle speedway champ Mike Harris looks forward to being active and having fun outdoors with his two young sons over the summer break. He is stunned that they just want to sit inside playing on their devices. When he encourages them to get out into the real world for exercise and adventure, little does he realize, he is about to set off a chain of events that will change their lives forever.

The boys stumble into the middle of a robbery tied to the nearby castle of a royal family member, and now a notorious crime boss and his bumbling goons are in hot pursuit. The brothers not only lead the thieves, but also the police to the family home where the boys have hidden the stolen loot they discovered.

A race against time ensues, with Dad now a suspect for the crime and Mum on the warpath, it is up to the boys to use all their physical skills to prove who the real thieves are and clear their dad’s name in time for his final speedway race!

Adventure Boyz stars Jon Campling (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Final Fantasy, Predator Dark Ages), Angela Dixon (Never Let Go, Homeless Ashes, Blacksite), Justin Hayward (Monster, 13 Graves), Russell Shaw (Sky Arts, Scummy Man, Election Night) , Glenn Salvage (Essex Heist, Aux, Beyond Fury) and introducing Rory and Felix Ford as the Adventure Boyz.

“Adventure Boyz is not only a fun and compelling story but provides an important message for its young audience: there’s adventure to be had outside beyond the screens of our phones,” said Brett Rogalsky, Acquisitions Coordinator at Gravitas Ventures.

The irony of the fact that Adventure Boyz is destined to be viewed on millions of screens and devices is not lost on Howard.

“The technology and choice available to us – and our kids - nowadays is amazing and I’m not suggesting we ever let it go altogether. I think sometimes parents and children do not even realize how little time the kids actually spend outside, being active and having fun. After watching Adventure Boyz, my dream is that parents and kids feel inspired to then go and do something amazing together, get some air in their lungs, get moving, and not just drift onto the next thing on our screen; it’s all about balance,” said Howard.

Howard was driven to create Adventure Boyz because of his own children, Rory (9) and Felix (7), and their usage of hand-held devices. In keeping with the theme of the movie, making the movie became a family-affair and a real-life adventure for the father and his sons.

Howard asked his sons to list everything they would want to see in a movie. They listed all sorts of things from ‘Outsmarting Criminals’, ‘Motorbike action,’ ‘Finding Treasure,’ ‘BMXing,’ ‘Bullies getting their comeuppance,’ and ‘Getting the girl’! By the next morning, Howard had written a synopsis with all of that, plus more kid-approved plot ideas and lots of action. Then there was nothing he could do other than write the script, direct the film, and cast his sons in the roles they helped create.

“If I were a carpenter, I’d have made them the best tree house I could, but I’m a filmmaker, so what else could I do?” asked Howard.

“On its UK theatrical release, many families came to the cinema two or three times to see Adventure Boyz and parents everywhere seem to be supporting the film’s message and we’re starting to hear reports of families doing more stuff together after seeing the film” said Howard.

“I felt I had to do something urgently to remind my own kids, and perhaps millions of others, that there was more to life than just playing the latest addictive game. It’s been widely reported that children worldwide are falling into ‘device addiction’, with apparently some young people spending up to 10 hours a day on social media! I wanted to encourage and inspire all of us to get outdoors more, exercise and re-connect with each other,” said Howard.

ADVENTURE BOYZ is produced & directed by Howard J Ford. Co-producer is Alicia Ford. Music by Imran Ahmad & theme song 'Running Free' by Smitha. Howard J Ford is represented by David Gersh, The Gersh Agency.

“I’m developing ‘Adventure Boyz 2’ and ‘Adventure Girlz,’ but first I’m back to something more adult with a thrilling female-driven cliffhanger of a movie called ‘The Ledge’!” added Howard.

Genre Veteran Chad Ferrin Goes Under the Sea with "THE DEEP ONES"

First Photos from "THE DEEP ONES" Wash Ashore

Lovecraftian Thriller is the Latest Frightfest

From Cult Director Chad Ferrin

Los Angeles, CA -- Independent horror filmmaker Chad Ferrin (Parasites, The Ghouls, Someone's Knocking at the Door) has debuted the first photos from his eighth film The Deep Ones, a Lovecraftian take on Rosemary's Baby.  A married couple rents a beachside dream home, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors and bizarre occurrences. They soon discover they are in the crosshairs of a mysterious cult and their ancient sea god.

The cast of The Deep Ones includes Johann Urb ("Arrow"), Gina La Piana, Robert Miano, Silvia Spross, Jackie Debatin, Nicolas Coster, Rachel Pringle, Jerry Irons, Robert Rhine, Jon Mack, Bulet Rush, Timothy Muskatell, Kelli Maroney (Chopping Mall, Night of the Comet) and Kurt Carley (the Underworld franchise, Roland Emmerich's Godzilla).

Behind the scenes, Ferrin is joined by producers Gina La Piana, Robert Miano and Jeff Olan, composer Richard Band (Re-Animator, From Beyond), director of photography Jeff Billings, makeup effects artist Jim Ojala (Deadgirl, Strange Nature) with key art by Nenad Gucunja.  The Deep Ones is executive produced by Michael Schefano, Richard Pate, Gerry Karr and Zebadiah DeVane.

"H.P. Lovecraft must be smiling down on us," Ferrin shared, "as this has been the most blessed film experience of my 25 years of doing what I love. And I thank the cast and crew from the bottom of my heart for going above and beyond all expectations."

After suffering an untimely loss, Alex (La Piana) and her husband Petri (Urb) visit California for a much-needed break from reality. At an unassuming rental, they meet the mysterious Russell Marsh (Miano). Marsh introduces them to the oddly enthusiastic locals, fixes them a lavish meal and invites them out on his luxury boat.

Little do they know that beneath Mr. Marsh's thin veneer of avuncular charm lurks a dark devotion to an archaic evil. A wickedly warped twist on the classic Cthulhu mythos, The Deep Ones is what it looks like when Rosemary's Baby undergoes the Innsmouth Transformation.

The Deep Ones will premiere in 2020.

All the Scary John Agar Scenes In "THE BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS" (1957) (video)

In this low-budget sci-fi thriller from 1957...

...John Agar plays a scientist whose body is taken over... an evil alien brain bent on conquering the Earth.

What frightened kids most when they saw this movie...
...were the scenes of a possessed Agar with wild, gleaming eyes.

The effect involved contact lenses lined with metal foil...
...which were courtesy of legendary makeup man Jack Pierce.

Agar found them quite painful to wear.

Bong Joon Ho's Academy-Award Winning "PARASITE", "MEMORIES OF MURDER" To Join The Criterion Collection

New York, NY (February 13, 2020) – NEON and the Criterion Collection are excited to announce that Criterion will issue special editions of two Bong Joon Ho masterpieces, the four-time Academy Award-winning Parasite and the breathtaking crime drama Memories of Murder. Parasite just made history as the first foreign language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, and the first Korean film to win Best Director, Best International Film, and Best Original Screenplay. Parasite was also Nominated for Best Production Design and Best Editing, and previously won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film and Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

Bong Joon Ho brings his singular mastery home to Korea in this pitch-black modern fairytale. The film is set amidst the two families, the Parks, the picture of aspirational wealth, and the Kims, rich in street smarts but not much else. Be it chance or fate, these two houses are brought together and the Kims sense a golden opportunity. Masterminded by college-aged Ki-woo, the Kim children expediently install themselves as tutor and art therapist, to the Parks. Soon, a symbiotic relationship forms between the two families. The Kims provide “indispensable” luxury services while the Parks obliviously bankroll their entire household. When a parasitic interloper threatens the Kims’ newfound comfort, a savage, underhanded battle for dominance breaks out, threatening to destroy the fragile ecosystem between the Kims and the Parks. By turns darkly hilarious and heart-wrenching, Parasite showcases a modern master at the top of his game.

Memories of Murder was released in 2003 and marked the first of Bong Joon Ho and Song Kang Ho's collaborations, and has gone on to be considered one of the most thrilling and haunting crime dramas released this century. NEON recently acquired the rights to the film and will be re-releasing the film in theaters before its home video release.

Parasite debuted at Cannes where it became the first Korean film to win the coveted Palme d'Or and has since gone one to play at festivals across the country, including Telluride, Toronto, and New York Film Festival. Parasite is being hailed by critics as the best film to emerge this past fall, earning 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. NEON released the film in theaters on October 6, 2019 where it has gone on to gross over $35 million, becoming one of the Top 10 highest grossing foreign language films ever released in the US.

Parasite was written and directed by Bong Joon Ho and features a SAG Ensemble Award-winning cast including his long time collaborator Song Kang Ho, Choi Woo Shik, Park So Dam and Jang Hye Jin.

A little less than 3 years since inception, NEON has garnered 10 Oscar nominations and already grossed over $150M at the Box Office. It continues to push boundaries and take creative risks on bold cinema such as Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite, which made history winning four Academy Awards®, becoming the first non-English-language film to claim Best Picture. The film, which also unanimously won the Palme d’Or at Cannes, has amassed over $38M at the domestic box office and broke multiple records including highest per screen average of the year and highest per screen average for a foreign language film of all time. Other noteworthy NEON releases include: Double Oscar nominee Honeyland; Todd Douglas Miller’s Apollo 11, 2019's highest grossing documentary with a worldwide gross of $16M; Tim Wardle's Three Identical Strangers, winner of the Sundance Special Jury Award for Storytelling which surpassed $13M at the box office; and Craig Gillespie’s I, Tonya, which garnered multiple Academy Award® nominations, one win for Allison Janney and amassed over $30M in domestic box office.

The company continues to be an impressive force at festivals, with recent Sundance acquisitions such as Max Barbakow’s sought after Palm Springs starring Andy Samberg, which NEON acquired with Hulu, and Josephine Decker’s Shirley starring Elisabeth Moss. Recent releases include: the critically acclaimed Cannes hit Portrait of a Lady on Fire, which was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes® and Independent Spirit Awards; Tamara Kotevska and Ljubo Stefanov’s award-winning and record-breaking Honeyland, which is the first non-fiction feature to land Academy Award® nominations for Best Documentary and Best International Feature Film in the same year; Alejandro Landes’ cinematic thrillerMonos (the Colombian selection for the Academy Awards®); Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz‘s horror film The Lodge starring Riley Keough; Julius Onah’s Luce starring Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer; Tom Harper’s Wild Rose starring Jessie Buckley; John Chester’s The Biggest Little Farm; Chinonye Chukwu’s Clemency starring Academy Award® Nominee Alfre Woodard; and the electrifying documentary about Aretha Franklin, Amazing Grace.

After their successful collaboration on I, Tonya in January 2018, 30WEST (Dan Friedkin's and Micah Green's strategic venture) partnered with NEON's Tom Quinn (Founder & CEO) and Tim League (Co-Founder) to become majority investors in the company.

Since 1984, the Criterion Collection has been dedicated to publishing important classic and contemporary films from around the world in editions that offer the highest technical quality and award-winning, original supplements. No matter the medium-from laserdisc to DVD and Blu-ray to streaming on the Criterion Channel-Criterion has maintained its pioneering commitment to presenting each film as its maker would want it seen, in state-of-the-art restorations with special features designed to encourage repeated watching and deepen the viewer’s appreciation of the art of film.
