Kong Undresses Ann in (Censored!) Scene From KING KONG (1933) (video)

When "King Kong" (1933) was re-released in 1938, several violent shots which violated the Production Code were removed.

Along with these went a scene considered much too risque' in which a curious Kong peels off some of Ann Darrow's clothing.

The new edit cut away just as Kong was getting started.

Here's the original, restored version...

THE GODFATHER's Opening Shot Repeated in John Milius' DILLINGER (1973)(video)

The famous opening shot in Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather" (1972)

...is a slow, extended zoom out from a tight closeup of Bonasera (Salvatore Corsitto).

The introductory shot of Cloris Leachman in American Zoetrope alumnus John Milius' "Dillinger" (1973) seems to use it as a template.

Groucho Marx Plays Guitar and Sings in "Horse Feathers" and "Go West" (video)

Groucho often expressed displeasure at the frequent musical numbers by his brothers Harpo and Chico.

While quite proficient on the guitar himself, he was reticent to show off his skill on screen.

He did so in only two Marx Brothers films, "Horse Feathers" (1932) and "Go West"  (1940).

Bizarre Comedy Relief Character in "The Ape Man" (Bela Lugosi, 1943) (video)

Besides the sight of a seemingly embarrassed Bela Lugosi reduced to acting like an ape...

...the weirdest thing about this film is a mysterious "comedy relief" character played by Ralph Littlefield.

Billed as "Zippo", he first sets up the story and provides exposition.

Then he keeps popping up at odd intervals for no apparent reason...

...until the strange "breaking the fourth wall" ending reveals his identity.

Goofiest-Looking Robot Ever? "The Phantom Creeps" (Bela Lugosi, 1939) (video)

There have been some pretty sad-looking robots throughout film history.

But the scowling, big-headed monstrosity in the Bela Lugosi serial "The Phantom Creeps" really takes the cake.

Bela plans on using an army of them to help him take over the world...

...but he can barely control the one clumsy prototype that he has.

And the lumbering heap of junk can't even survive a single run-in with a few soldiers.

Nevertheless, Rob Zombie would borrow the design for his 2009 cartoon feature "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto."

And, of course, we love the big goofy-looking lug, too.

By taking one last long shot at maintaining his integrity, David sets out to organize the follow-up album that he never had the chance to make. Sammy Petrillo's Bit Part in "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" (1962) (video)

Comedian Sammy Petrillo imitated Jerry Lewis in his comedy act with singer Duke Mitchell.

Their main claim to fame was the 1952 film "Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla."

Ten years later, he'd pop up in a non-speaking bit part in "The Brain That Wouldn't Die."

He can be briefly seen as an amateur shutterbug during an "artistic" posing session.
