On November 15, Image Entertainment will release Michael Mann’s (“Miami Vice,” Heat, HBO’s upcoming series, “Luck” – co-starring Dennis Farina) Emmy-nominated drama Crime Story: The Complete Series on DVD . Set in the early 1960’s, this acclaimed series reflects an era full of promise, change and danger. This 25th anniversary edition is the first time the complete series, including the two hour pilot, will be available as a set and will be available on DVD for an MSRP of $29.98. Crime Story is the story of the Chicago Police Major Crime Unit headed by Lieutenant Mike Torello (Dennis Farina, Get Shorty, “Law & Order”): a man driven by his obsessive pursuit of Ray Luca (Anthony Denison, The Closer, Chasing Papi), a ruthless hood who is rapidly ascending the underworld’s corporate ladder. As Luca murders, steals, and extorts his way to the top, Torello, backed by his dedicated team of detectives, pursues Luca from the grit of Chicago to the glitz of Las Vegas, their paths clashing again and again.
Crime Story features an exciting supporting cast, including Stephen Lang (“Terra Nova,” Avatar), Bill Campbell (“The O.C.”), Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs, “Monk”) and Joseph Wiseman (“Law & Order,” Dr. No). Guest stars include David Caruso, Julia Roberts, Gary Sinise, Kevin Spacey, Ving Rhames, Lorraine Bracco, Michael Madsen, Pam Grier, Stanley Tucci, David Hyde Pierce, Andrew Dice Clay and Deborah Harry – there is even an appearance by jazz legend Miles Davis!
Crime Story has its roots in crime-fighting. Both Chuck Adamson (“Miami Vice,” Heat), the show’s co-creator, and Dennis Farina are veterans of the Chicago police force. This heritage is seen in the period detail and realism which have made Crime Story one of the most influential action dramas in television history.
