FREESTYLE DIGITAL MEDIA ACQUIRES “THE TOUCHED ONE” FOR FEBRUARY RELEASE
Supernatural-Horror Dramatic Feature Film Sets Digital Debut on North American VOD Platforms on February 15, 2022
Los Angeles, CA – January 24, 2022 – Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group/Entertainment Studios, has acquired North American VOD rights to the supernatural-horror dramatic feature film THE TOUCHED ONE. THE TOUCHED ONE will be available to rent and own on global digital HD internet, and satellite platforms on February 15, 2022 through Freestyle Digital Media.
THE TOUCHED ONE follows Chinaza, a woman anointed by a sacred ram to do good deeds, as she goes in search of a gang of men who did her wrong in order to correct them of their evil ways. One morning, Chinaza and two others board a local bus. Four men posing as passengers promptly abduct and take them deep into the woods for blood sacrifice. Chinaza is resigned to her fate when a mysterious ram appears and sets her free. Grateful to be alive, she pets it.
Safe at home, she discovers that the hand with which she pet the ram corrects anyone she touches of their sinful ways. She is thus convinced this is the reason she is the sole survivor of the tragedy. Thereafter, she determines to find the kidnappers to guide them onto a righteous path. The families of the two other victims who did not make it that day have other ideas to exact their own brand of street justice on the men.
WATCH THE TRAILER:
Written and directed by Vigil Chime, THE TOUCHED ONE was produced by Happy Julian Uchendu and Vigil Chime. The ensemble cast includes Grace Ijeoma Agu (‘Chinaza’), Kenneth Okolie (‘Odinaka’), Emeka Amakeze (‘Lead Kidnapper Tochi’), Amaechi Muonagor (‘Chinaza’s Father’), Prince Nnanna Ndukwe (‘Paul’), and Clemson Cornel Agbogidi (‘Dibia Agbarakata’).
“I made THE TOUCHED ONE because I wanted to, primarily, make a story that mostly takes place outside,” said filmmaker Vigil Chime. “We are living in a very changed world now, with the whole world on lockdown. I thought it a breath of fresh air to set the events in the expansive space of a deep forest. At the same time, I wanted to tell a story about forgiveness. That a grave wrong could be done to someone and have her recover to forgive the very people that had wronged her. That is powerful.”
Freestyle Digital Media negotiated the deal to acquire THE TOUCHED ONE with Vigil Chime of Breakfast Pictures Entertainment and Halle Mariner at APA.

Mary Pickford plays a dual role in this film...
...which uses some surprisingly good split-screen effects.
One character is Stella, a standard Pickford beauty.
The other, Unity Blake, a scruffy, homely orphan...

Mary's transformation is an amazing testament to her acting ability. It's hard to believe the same actress plays both roles.
In one memorable scene, Unity visits an evil woman who has abused her terribly, and...

"THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH"
SOUNDTRACK FROM THE APPLE ORIGINAL FILM
WITH MUSIC BY CARTER BURWELL
AVAILABLE NOW FROM MILAN RECORDS
AVAILABLE NOW IN SELECT THEATERS, THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH PREMIERES GLOBALLY ON APPLE TV+ TODAY, JANUARY 14
NEW YORK, NY – Milan Records announces the release of THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH (SOUNDTRACK FROM THE APPLE ORIGINAL FILM) by award-winning composer CARTER BURWELL. Available everywhere now, the album features music written by Burwell for the Apple Original Film based on the play by William Shakespeare, written for the screen and directed by Joel Coen. The film is the latest in a career-spanning partnership between Burwell and Coen, whose prolific partnership dates back to 1984 and has gone on to include almost every film from the four-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker including Raising Arizona, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, True Grit and more.
WATCH THE TRAILER:
Speaking of his approach to the score, composer CARTER BURWELL says, “Among the ways one might play Macbeth musically are to let the witches run the show, or make Lady Macbeth a bully, or play Macbeth as a blood-thirsty madman. I did none of these in The Tragedy of Macbeth. The way Joel Coen adapted the play, and the way the actors played it, the Macbeths are human and supportive of each other. Loving even. And culpable. But the music also plays the film as a thriller. A murder sets a mechanism in motion that will unwind with greater pace and greater stakes until the end.”
The soundtrack finds Burwell weaving string-heavy instrumentation with onscreen dialogues performed throughout the film, with vocal contributions by Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand and more featuring on nearly half of the album’s 13 tracks. Burwell’s orchestra of strings further showcase the melodic quality of the Shakespearean dialogue, of which the composer says:
“In any adaptation of Shakespeare, the language is the featured player, and Joel and I often discussed how much or little the music should play during the great monologues. We arrived at the maxim that, in these scenes, the dialogue was the melody and the score its accompaniment. With this in mind I tried to write around and below the words, placing much of the score in the lowest registers – cellos and basses – where it wouldn’t fight the speech. This also accentuates the darkness of a very dark story.”
The score’s ominous tone is punctuated by moments of solo violin Burwell describes as “taking flight out of the darkness.” Eerily alien and slightly off-kilter, these portions reflect a conscious decision by Burwell to find something “rough-hewn like a fiddle, but not a fiddle from any place we know.” Burwell enlisted award-winning violinist Tim Fain to help create a folk-style sound from unknown lands, crediting the musician for his ability to go “off the page” enough to give the compositions character and life. From Shakespearean speeches to simmering, otherworldly textures, Burwell’s score coalesces into a darkly foreboding and propulsive soundscape that ultimately captures the essence of the story as well as its nuances.
Starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand, The Tragedy of Macbeth is available now in select theaters from A24 and premieres globally on Apple TV+ today, January 14.

Kato is a middle-aged shop owner in Kyoto, Japan who lives above his cafe. He spends his free time playing in a local band and sometimes thinking about Megumi, the woman in the barbershop next door with whom Kato is infatuated. One evening, after closing up the cafe, Kato is in his room when suddenly he appears on his own computer screen. The Kato on the screen is using the computer from downstairs in the cafe and claims to be from two minutes in the future. Kato is understandably confused and skeptical, but things get really strange when he goes down to the cafe computer, sees himself sitting back in his room, and begins to deliver the same message he heard two minutes before. It’s not long before Kato’s friends discover the phenomenon – which they dub “Time TV” – and devise a plan to go beyond the infinite two minutes.

What if, instead of Liam Neeson's character in TAKEN being a heroic superspy who could kick bad-guy butts all over the place and solve any problem, he had been a portly, alcoholic loser who could barely hold down a job or drive past a bar without going in and spending the rest of the day in it?
That "what if" is pretty much answered in the indy thriller FORTRESS OF SIN (2022), in which director and co-writer Paul Chomicki (who co-starred with Dave Campfield in the "Caesar & Otto" comedies) stars as Harry, a luckless shlub who fits the above description to a tee.
When we meet Harry, he's sleeping off a drunk when his estranged daughter Robin (Jama Bourne) shows up looking for money, a place to stay, and maybe some getting-to-know-you time with Dad. This doesn't work out, and Robin is off again while Harry stews in his own juices, oblivious.
Long story short, Harry soon discovers that his daughter has disappeared in a desolate wilderness location hours away, where word has it that a bloodthirsty religious cult called "Ascend" is kidnapping young girls for money.
Summoning his last ounce of responsibility, he hops into his broken-down truck, drives to Robin's last known location, breaks down, and proceeds to fail just as spectacularly as Liam Neeson's similarly concerned Dad succeeded.
Chomicki plays the lead role with a light touch, making Harry a mildly likable and somewhat relatable loser without pouring on the histrionics. The supporting cast is very capable, including Rae Hartwell as ex-wife Krista, Katie Otten as Aiyanna, an escaped captive of the cult who helps Harry, cinematographer Christian Voss as dogged local cop Ritter, and "Caesar & Otto" regular Avi K. Garg as malevolent cult leader Lucien Reed.
Also making an appearance is co-writer and producer Dave Campfield, who starred with Chomicki in their series of hilarious "Caesar & Otto" comedies (including CAESAR & OTTO'S PARANORMAL HALLOWEEN, CAESAR & OTTO'S SUMMER CAMP MASSACRE, and CAESAR & OTTO'S DEADLY XMAS). Here, Campfield returns to the same dark thriller territory as his riveting debut with 2007's DARK CHAMBER.
The film is a slow-burn, easing us into a story that's carried along by Chomicki's lean direction and some colorful, picturesque cinematography (there's a nice use of drone cameras throughout which takes full advantage of the Nebraska landscape).
The advance DVD screener I received contains a bonus menu which includes a cast and crew commentary track, behind-the-scenes peeks with Paul Chomicki and Katie Otten, a gag reel, and a bonus short film by Chomicki, "The Third Eye."
Things build to a powerful finish with Harry ending up in the clutches of the murderous cult after discovering the fate of his missing daughter. Paul Chomicki brings a fresh, easygoing approach to this kind of material which I found very appealing, and rather than going for the usual tired "sting" at the fadeout, he ends FORTRESS OF SIN on an emotional note that helps raise it yet another notch above average.

Bond's in trouble...
Wounded, and chased by armed thugs...
...led by lovely but deadly Fiona Volpe (Luciana Paluzzi).
And as if that weren't enough...
Could that be Agent 00-K9, providing a distraction for Bond?
Oh well, they did say "Thunderball" would be Bond's wettest adventure yet.
