Richard Kiel As Frankenstein's Monster On "The Monkees" (1967) (video)

7'2" Richard Kiel had already done a number of mostly small roles...

...before appearing with "The Monkees" (1967) as a Frankenstein-like monster.

The episode was titled "I Was a Teenage Monster."

Of course, he would later achieve worldwide fame as James Bond's nemesis, "Jaws."

But aside from a Monster-like turn on "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew" ten years later...

...this was as close as he would ever come to playing Frankenstein's Monster.

Jack Nicholson and Dennis Hopper in Monkees' Film "Head" (1968) (video)

A young Jack Nicholson co-wrote the Monkees' wildly surrealistic film "Head."

He even made a brief cameo appearance...
...along with future "Easy Rider" co-star Dennis Hopper.

The bizarre film was similar to the 1967 Nicholson-penned "The Trip" (1967) with Peter Fonda.

But Monkees' teenybopper fans didn't know what to make of it, and it helped deep-six the band.
