TERI POLO JOINS ROBERT DAVI, NICOLAS TURTURRO IN HOLIDAY ROMCOM ‘PIZZA & WHINE’
The New Feature from Maria Capp Begins Production This Week
LOS ANGELES (January 14, 2019) – Teri Polo ("The Fosters"), Robert Davi (Goonies, Die Hard) and Nic Turturro (BlaKkKlansman) will star in PIZZA & WHINE which will begin shooting in Los Angeles this month with co-stars Mike Marino (Pizza with Bullets) and Ayla Kell (“Make it or Break it”). Maria Capp makes her feature directorial debut with the film, having just co-written and produced award-winning film Reach in 2018.
Polo is “Angela D'Agosti” who helps gather her family together at the most wonderful time of the year for one of the saddest occasions – her mother’s funeral. After years of being apart, some of the family’s young cousins (Raffaela Capp, Reach; Ayla Kell; Natasha Capp, Reach; and Lily Gibsen, “Boy Meet’s World”) are assigned the seemingly simple task of singing at their grandmother's funeral. But only through family drama, tears, a little pizza and wine, will all of the women rediscover themselves, each other, their love of family, music, and Christmas traditions.
Jayson Bernard (Halloweed), Michael Lenoci (Running Lines with Lenoci), Jared Sandler (Father of the Year) and Lance Paul (A Kiss on Candy Cane Lane) round out the cast.
“This story is inspired by my own very large, loving Italian family and the recent passing of my beloved grandma,” stated Raffaela Capp, who also co-wrote.
Added filmmaker Maria Capp, “It’s an honor to bring this story about women to the big screen but even more so to be doing it with a cast and crew made up 80% women!”
Director Maria Capp co-wrote Pizza & Whine with first-time screenwriters Raffaela Capp and Elliott Estrada. The screenplay is loosely based on and inspired by the play, Pizza and Whine written by the Capps with Veronica Kelly, which workshopped at the New York Theatre Festival's Winterfest and The Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2018.
Maria Capp is also a Producer with Jayson Bernard, Roberto Rosario, Jr. and Kristi Kilday. Steve Capp is the Executive Producer. Casting is by Dea Vise.
