While investigating a bomb threat, Mulder and Scully share a lighthearted moment.

This sets us up for the intensely suspenseful scene to come.

Mulder and Scully balance each other well. Mulder is restrained, low-key, laconic.
Scully counters this with her expressive face and frenetic demeanor.

As Mulder stoically watches the bomb he's trapped with count down...
...Scully ramps up the suspense by taking charge of his rescue.

Her terse cry of "There's no time!" to a hesitant Mulder later on adds even more.

The explosion is followed by a masterful series of rapid-fire edits...
...and a single split-second shot of Scully's alarm as their car crashes.

All of this combined creates one of the most thrilling sequences ever filmed.

Originally released in 1961 as Ercole alla conquista di Atlantide in Italy, Hercules and the Captive Women is the version edited for the U.S., released for audiences in 1963.

 

Action-packed from the beginning, Hercules (Park) first encounters Ismene (Altan) when he must save her from a shape-shifting creature. Victorious, Ismene brings Hercules home to Atlantis where they come face to face with Ismene's mother, the evil Queen Antinea (Spain), prepared for battle to end her pursuit of world conquest.

The release was produced from rare 35mm archival elements beautifully restored from a 4K transfer in its original aspect ratio and features a showing of exclusive commentary and special features just as strong—if not stronger— than Hercules himself!

These nominations cap a remarkable festival run for To Your Last Death. The film has snagged 34 wins since its world premiere at FrightFest, including Best Feature from Pasadena International Film Festival, Best Director from Horrorhound, and Best Horror Feature from Phoenix International Film Festival. “Based on our research, we are the second most award-winning horror feature of 2020,” says co-writer and executive producer Tanya Klein.

Quite an achievement for a twisted, low-budget animated movie which Film Threat rated 9/10 and raved "one of the best horror/action movies I've seen in a while". To Your Last Death combines a wildly imaginative script with eye-popping animation. The film is anchored by a first-class voice cast: Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, "Firefly", "Gotham") as the mysterious Gamemaster, Ray Wise ("Twin Peaks", Batman: The Killing Joke, Robocop), Dani Lennon (The Love Witch, Bite Me), Bill Moseley (House of 1000 Corpses, Repo! The Genetic Opera, The Devil's Rejects), and William Shatner (the "Star Trek" franchise, "The Practice") as the sadistic Overseer.

To Your Last Death features hand-drawn animation in a style reminiscent of "Archer" and "Metalocalypse." According to executive producer and co-writer Jim Cirile, the film is "extremely violent, but it features dimensional, relatable characters and definitely has something to say. There's political bite and social commentary and surprising depth."

To Your Last Death was produced by Coverage Ink Films and directed by Jason Axinn, from a script by Coverage Ink's Tanya Klein and Jim Cirile. Axinn produced alongside Cindi Rice and Paige Barnett.  Tanya Klein, James Cirile, and John Frank Rosenblum served as executive producers. Carl Frank, best known for his work on Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering, led the art department. Rene G. Boscio composed the score.

MONSTROUS centers on a traumatized woman fleeing from her abusive ex-husband with her 7-year-old son. In their new, remote sanctuary they find they have a bigger, more terrifying monster to deal with.

“Carol Chrest created an iconic genre character who Christina Ricci brings to life in a mesmerizing and deeply emotional performance,” said Sivertson.

Joe Bob Briggs and Virgil Cardamone, partner and chief programmer for the beloved Mahoning Drive-In Theater, are teaming up to bring you the first annual Joe Bob’s Drive-In Jamboree, a three-day event billed as “the drive-in Woodstock," on July 16-18, 2021.

The three-day event will include an indie festival for guerrilla filmmakers, a live double-feature hosted by Joe Bob, a family-friendly "haunted drive-in" event with live zombies and monsters, and days filled with bands, cosplay contests, custom cars, free seminars conducted by professionals for ultra-low-budget filmmakers, movie memorabilia vendors, sideshow attractions, and the presentation of the Joe Bob Briggs Lifetime Achievement Award, better known as the Hubbie--because it’s engraved on a Chevy hubcap.

Tickets will go on sale in April.

“We’re calling this The Gathering of the Mutants,” said Briggs. “As I’ve traveled around the country the last three years, meeting our fans at conventions and live shows, they’ve all expressed a hunger for getting away from their on-line lives and celebrating the movies and sub-cultures that we all love. What better place than the Mahoning Drive-in, saved from extinction because a handful of film fans put their lives on hold and worked for free to preserve it?”

The story of the Mahoning Drive-In is told in the award-winning documentary At the Drive-In, directed by Alexander Monelli, dramatizing how the property opened in 1949 only to be threatened by closure in 2014 when the film world went digital. A determined group of film enthusiasts turned it into a retro 35-millimeter destination and the gamble paid off, thanks to their unmatched programming and dedication to the fan experience, so that they eventually earned a reputation as “America’s Coolest Drive-in.”

The Mahoning is nestled in the ridge-and-valley region of the Appalachian Mountains,an area rich with history dating from the eras of coal mines, railroads and factories clustered along the Lehigh River. The nearby town of Jim Thorpe, which bills itself as “the Switzerland of America” because of its location on a steep mountain incline, is a popular tourist spot.

 

 

FILM SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN

Mutant Fest will be the first day of Joe Bob’s Drive-In Jamboree. Mutant Fest is a celebration of low-budget exploitation films made outside the financial support systems of Los Angeles and New York. Filmmakers can submit feature films and shorts for consideration, with no entry fee.

“The purpose of the festival,” said Briggs, “is to bring attention to films that have no marketing budget. Some of these guys mortgage their homes to make the film, then discover they can’t get into the major festivals without spending several thousand dollars on the various fees charged—fees required simply for ‘consideration,’ guaranteeing nothing. We have a team set up to screen films continuously right up until the cut-off date of May 1. We also have an educational component, with industry professionals conducting practical seminars on filmmaking with impossibly low budgets. These are basically ‘how to get stuff free’ classes.”

The two winning feature films and the ten winning shorts will all be screened at the Mahoning Drive-In on the night of July 16th, with Briggs hosting and presenting the awards. Runner-up films will be screened throughout the day at a location to be announced later.

Carlos Alazraqui ("Rocko's Modern Life", Spyro the Dragon, "The Fairly OddParents") co-wrote the film and stars, alongside fellow voice actors Tara Strong ("Teen Titans", "Rugrats", "The Powerpuff Girls"), and Maurice LaMarche ("Pinky and the Brain", "Futurama", "Hey Arnold").

Witness Infection premiered at the 2020 HA Comedy Arts Festival and went on to screen at festivals around the world, picking up awards for Best Feature at HorrorHound and the Die Laughing Film Festival, Best Director at Die Laughing and the Frostbite Film Festival, and the Audience Choice Envy Award the Sin Film Festival.

Witness Infection tells the story of two rival mob families who are transferred from the Witness Protection Program to the same city by mistake. Life has always been pretty protected for Carlo Serrelli. But his past is about to come back and bite him. Carlo’s father has kept him out of the deadly mob business by giving him a job at the family dog groomers, while his younger brother, Dominic, has always done the dirty work.

All that is coming to an end as Carlo’s father has to force him into an arranged marriage with the daughter of the rival Miola family boss. Carlo’s two best friends, Gina and Vince, vow to help him get out of this predicament, but they all get in way over their heads when a serious infection starts eating the town. The good news is that Carlo may not have to get married after all -- but the bad news is that everyone might die.
